After a major flooring rebuild, the goal isn’t simply to put something new on the floor. It’s to make the home feel settled again.

For this Frisco, TX project, the downstairs living spaces received 3/4-inch #1 Grade White Oak solid hardwood, replacing a mix of existing tile and carpet. The new wood carries through the foyer, hallway, dining room, office, bedrooms, and other downstairs areas—creating a much more consistent look from room to room.

Project Highlights

• Installed approximately 1,463 square feet of solid White Oak hardwood
• Used 3/4-inch, 3.25-inch-wide #1 Grade White Oak
• Removed existing tile from the kitchen, laundry room, living room, and breakfast area
• Removed carpet and pad from three downstairs bedrooms and closets
• Installed plywood where needed as part of the new flooring system
• Sanded and finished the hardwood with two coats of oil-based polyurethane
• Pulled and reset approximately 365 linear feet of baseboards around the flooring areas

The finished floor brings warmth back into the downstairs while giving the home one continuous material and a timeless foundation. White Oak has a way of doing that—it feels classic without making the space feel stuck in a particular era.
